Am I able to upgrade the ram? Does it have to be the exact brand? Or am I able to use any other brand that’s still DDR4 3200mhz?
    Asked on May 9, 2022 5:17 am

Hello Xavier, for the best compatibility, make sure you get the same exact sticks of RAM that come with the computer. -Chris

4 reviews for Prism II

This is an in depth review of my experience with ordering this particular prebuilt. If you’re thinking about dropping nearly $3k on a prebuilt you should read this first.

Shipping (5 stars): I ordered the Prism on Feb 4, it shipped out on Feb 17 and I received it on Feb 23. It took 9 business days to process as stated, and I didn’t mind the wait given Skytech’s good reputation within the system integrator market for quality, which would take time to properly test.

Condition (5 stars): The PC came in great condition, everything was clean and was packaged very securely. It comes with many air filled bags to protect the components during transit and for the most part everything stayed securely in place.

Components (5 stars): I was rather skeptical about the components I would receive, which Skytech says varies from each build. However, mostly every component comes from a reputable brand and works great. I’ve taken the liberty of listing all the parts below and the prices I could find for them online if I had sourced these parts and built it myself.

    Case: MetallicGear Neo Qube $120
Motherboard: ASRock X570S PG Riptide $185 (Cheap but versatile motherboard with lots of options, although I had never heard of ASRock before this)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x $300 (As advertised)
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3080 Vision OC $1500 (Very beautiful looking card and runs quiet even at full load)
    RAM: 2x 8GB G.Skill Ballistix 3200 MHz $75
    SSD: mSi Spatium M470 1TB $120
    Fans: 9x inwin Jupiter AJ120 RGB $120
    PSU: EVGA 850W gold $150

    Total: $2570
I paid $2700 for this PC so about $130 went to labor cost, pretty good and saves you a lot of headache from having to wait for each part and assembling yourself. Although I think Skytech gets these components closer to MSRP especially GPUs so it’s probably cheaper than that for them to source these parts. Great deal for hard to get GPUs like the 3080.

Performance (5 stars): The fact that this PC booted up right out of the box is simply incredible. From online reviewers, it seems this is actually a high bar to pass for prebuilts, especially ones being shipped cross country. This PC is simply a monster, playing games at 1440p max settings without breaking a sweat, rendering full fat blender scenes in a few minutes, getting near top scores in every benchmark software I try. No matter your workload, you should find this PC to suit any need. What I’m most impressed with by far is the fact that this prebuilt is practically silent even at full load. The fans may ramp up a little when taxing the system but all I hear is a gentle whir which is easily overpowered by any computer audio. Simply put, I almost never even hear it running even with super heavy workloads. More impressive yet is the CPU and GPU never go above 70 degrees celsius even when running full tilt. The spaciousness of the case and the amount of fans makes this a very cool, quiet, and high performing system at any load.

Issues (4.5 stars): My biggest issue with this PC was that it did not come with bluetooth. With such a hefty price tag, you would think that a $20 usb bluetooth dongle wouldn’t be out of the question to include considering how many peripherals use bluetooth these days. It literally comes with a whole keyboard and mouse but no bluetooth. Luckily, it’s a minor issue and quickly resolved by heading to Best Buy and grabbing a $20 dongle. Still a bit aggravating though.
When the PC came in, the fans were not spinning and turns out the power cable had been knocked out from the power supply so a quick replug and restart, then the fans were ready to go.
I also ran into some issues with the fan RGB because the RGB program loaded did not detect them and they were running full speed like a jet engine out of the box and the RGB was not able to be controlled by software. Ended up restarting a few times and now the fans run whisper quiet and the RGB software is working.
Overall, these were very minor issues especially compared with the woes of other system integrators, so the fact that almost everything worked right out of the box is a testament to the quality control. However, if you buy this PC, take some time before it arrives to go pick up a bluetooth dongle so you can save yourself some hassle.

Customer Service (5 stars): When I ran into the issues above, the online Q&A guide helped figure out what was wrong with the fans and live chat was quick and responsive. When you pay for this PC, you are also getting great customer support to resolve issues.

Summary (5 stars): While I did have minor issues and the bluetooth thing really irks me, this PC has simply blown me away with it’s high performance and very quiet cooling. The quality of the build and customer support are simply top notch and Skytech is the holy grail of system integrators in my experience. If you need a good PC, either for gaming or productivity, they provide a great deal for hard to get components and I will recommend their PCs to anyone who needs one.

P.S. If you’re reading this, Chris, I don’t know how much time you spend reading every review but it is very much appreciated. Hope you enjoyed this one.

I read each review and this one was amazing! Very thorough and well written. I have to apologize for the bluetooth but we are currently not including it with our builds. I’ll pass your feedback along to the higher ups though.

Glad to hear you are enjoying this beast of a machine!

I love the system, but… The lack of a starting guide for this build meant I had to contact support, the RGB programs needed to control the fan & motherboard lights was not loaded, the fans were set to dc not pwm in the bios and needed to be changed to avoid constant high speed/noise from the fans. Once those things were resolved by support, the system is a joy!

This is my first time purchasing a gaming PC. The Prism 2 (SKYTECH GAMING) was chosen over CyberP*wer, NZ*T, as well as MainGe*r pre-builts with the price of my budget being within 2500-2700 USD. The shipping was fast, however keep in mind I am a SoCal resident so it was fast shipping. From my order date it was 4-5 business days. At this time with the pandemic most hardware is taking weeks on end to get to customers as well as retailers so I was ecstatic. Onto the next and arguably the most important reason to purchase from SKYTECH GAMING is their CUSTOMER SERVICE. This company is on point when it comes to response time, solving issues, questions, and etc. They care about their customers! They take care of their customers!
Pc Set up on arrival –
Remove from shipping box, remove protective wrap/cushions from inside hardware, PLUG & PLAY.
It does not get an easier than that!
